INDIAN WELLS, Calif. – The Orange County Breakers defeated 2021 World TeamTennis
regular season champion Springfield Lasers 23-14 Saturday at the Indian Wells Tennis Garden
to close out the regular season.

Orange County and Springfield, who both clinched their spots for the WTT Finals Presented by
Guaranteed Rate on Thanksgiving, play for the title on Sunday at 3 p.m.

The Breakers claimed four out of five sets to collect a nine-point win over Springfield. Austin
Krajicek & Coachella Valley native Desirae Krawczyk, who capped off her third Major mixed
doubles title with the US Open championship earlier this year, defeated US Open mixed
doubles finalists Marcelo Arevalo & Giuliana Olmos in the final set that allowed Orange
County to end the regular season in victory.

The New York Empire, the 2020 WTT champion, defeated the San Diego Aviators 23-19 in the
final WTT regular season match of 2021. New York came out of the gates strong with a win in
men’s doubles and Kirsten Flipkens obtaining a victory in women’s singles, only dropping one
game in the process. San Diego, however, responded with two tie-break wins in mixed doubles
and women’s doubles to cut New York’s deficit 18-15 heading into the final set.

Although San Diego’s Aleks Vukic forced a tie-break in men’s singles, 2014 NCAA singles
champion from UCLA Marcos Giron finished it off for New York with his victory.
The Springfield Lasers look to capture their third WTT championship in the last four years
against Krawczyk and the Orange County Breakers on Sunday at 3 p.m. Orange County looks
for its first title since 2017 and its third in franchise history. The mixed doubles set on Sunday
will feature three of the four US Open mixed doubles finalists from this year.
