Posted on June 19, 2017

Two Mylan WTT Family members picked up doubles titles over the weekend to get their grass-court seasons off to a perfect start.

Washington Kastles newcomer Bruno Soares captured his 25th career tour-level title, teaming up with Jamie Murray to triumph in Stuttgart. Soares and Murray turned the tide to defeat Oliver Marach and Mate Pavic 6-7(4), 7-5, 10-5. The win marked the pair‘s fifth team trophy, adding to their earlier season victory in Acapulco.

“To be honest, never thought I’d reach these numbers,“ Soares told the ATP website. “Twenty-five is amazing. Hopefully I can make it to 50.“

The New York Empire‘s Kirsten Flipkens picked up her second WTA doubles crown after partnering Dominika Cibulkova to victory in s-Hertogenbosch. The Belgian and Slovakian took out the top-three seeded teams en route to the title, ultimately rallying past second seeds Kiki Bertens and Demi Schuurs 4-6, 6-4, 10-8 in the final. As a result, Flipkens moved up to a career-high WTA doubles ranking of No. 48.

Also in in s-Hertogenbosch , Raven Klaasen and Rajeev Ram advanced to their third final on the year. The San Diego Aviators tandem finished runner-up to Lukasz Kubot and Marcelo Melo. Klaasen and Ram now turn their attention to the ATP World Tour 500 event in Halle, where they are the reigning champions.
