World Team Tennis Names Kim Clijsters, Daniel Nestor and Jesse Levine As Team Head Coaches

NEW YORK, October t, 2026 – World Team Tennis (WTT) today announced three official coaches to lead its new clubs ahead of its reimagined 47th season this December. Four-time Grand Slam Champion and former world No. 1 Kim Clijsters will coach the New York Empire, Olympic gold medalist Daniel Nestor will coach Toronto North, and esteemed coach Jesse Levine will coach the Florida Flamingos.

“I’ve had the pleasure of playing on three different teams with World Team Tennis over the years, and it is incredibly special to come back to the New York Empire,” said Clijsters. “The league carries such a meaningful legacy and there’s nothing else like it in tennis today.”
‍

• Kim Clijsters, New York Empire: In 2003, Clijsters held the world No. 1 ranking in singles and doubles at the same time – she’s one of only six players in WTA to achieve this accomplishment. She won four Grand Slam singles titles and two major doubles titles. She was inducted into the International Tennis Hall of Fame in 2017, and won the WTA’s sportsmanship award a record eight times. Clijsters also carries a deep connection to the league – she played across three teams including the St. Louis Aces in 2009, the New York Sportimes in 2010, and the New York Empire in 2021, where she’ll return this December in a new role.

• Daniel Nestor, Toronto North: Nestor has left a legendary mark on Canadian tennis. He was the first man to complete the Big Titles sweep in doubles – which includes every major, every Masters 1000, the Tour Finals and Olympic gold across a career. He won 91 ATP doubles titles, along with eight men’s doubles majors and four mixed doubles majors. He spent 108 weeks at world No. 1 in doubles and won four ATP Finals titles. Nestor is a Member of the Order of Canada and has been inducted into Canada’s Walk of Fame and Canada’s Sports Hall of Fame.
  ‍
• Jesse Levine, Florida Flamingos: Levine is one of the most influential voices and coaches in tennis today. He moved to Florida when he was 13 years and in 2005 he won the Wimbledon boys’ doubles title. As a freshman at the University of Florida in 2007, he played No. 1 singles and was named SEC Freshman of the Year. As a professional, Levine reached a career-high No. 69 in singles and won nine professional titles. He later turned to coaching on the WTA Tour, where he has worked with top players including Madison Keys and Jessica Pegula.
  ‍

“Toronto is home for me – it’s where my tennis career began and where I played my last competitive match. The chance to coach Toronto North and be a part of this league again after many great memories as a player means a lot,”  said Nestor. “Toronto fans have always shown up for tennis and I know they are going to show up bigger than ever this December.”

The season begins on Tuesday, December 1, at Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York, with six matches across New York, Toronto, and South Florida through December 15.
