Reigning Mylan WTT Female MVP Andreja Klepac (Orange County Breakers) and Maria Jose Martinez Sanchez picked up their first team title over the weekend, defeating Daria Gavrilova and Daria Kasatkina 6-3, 6-2 at the Toray Pan Pacific Open in Tokyo.

Klepac and Martinez Sanchez, the No. 4 seeds, dropped just one set throughout the tournament en route to the trophy. The victory marked Klepac‘s fifth WTA doubles crown and first in two years (Seoul 2015).

As a result of their win, the Slovenian-Spanish duo remains in the hunt to qualify for the season-ending WTA Finals Singapore. Klepac and Martinez Sanchez currently stand in 10th position but are in line to make the cut as of today; Bethanie Mattek-Sands is out for the season with a right-knee injury and Andrea Hlavackova is ranked with two different partners. The top eight teams will compete in Singapore, with Kastles superstar Martina Hingis and Yung-Jan Chan leading the way in the pole position, having qualified in August. Mylan WTT tandem Anna-Lena Groenefeld (Springfield Lasers) and Kveta Peschke (Philadelphia Freedoms) sit in sixth, respectively.

In Prague, a number of Mylan WTT Family members competed for Team World in the inaugural Laver Cup. Although the squad ÔÇô comprised of John Isner (New York Empire), Jack Sock (Springfield Lasers), Sam Querrey (Washington Kastles), Frances Tiafoe (Washington Kastles), 2016 Kastle Nick Kyrgios and Denis Shapovalov ÔÇô went down to Team Europe 15-9, the team was praised for its chemistry and competitive spirit throughout the event.

The standout for Team World was Isner, who posted two wins on Day 3 to keep his team‘s hopes alive. Isner topped Rafael Nadal 7-5, 7-6(1) and partnered Sock to a 7-6(5), 7-6(6) victory over Tomas Berdych and Marin Cilic. Nineteen-time major champion Roger Federer ultimately clinched Team Europe‘s win by edging Kyrgios in a thriller, 4-6, 7-6(6), 11-9.
